Often when games are suggested at a casual get together, it’s not really about the games, it’s about doing something together as a group. More often the people I’m with aren’t really interested in spending more than ten minutes learning a game and they’re definitely not interested in playing the same game for three plus hours. Potentially even better would be finding games that are driven by social interactions, or at least games with a high amount of player interaction.
